PHOTOS: VCHS softball at Escondido -- CIF 1st Round

In a thrilling game between two evenly-matched teams, freshman Moyla Devers was the hero for the Valley Center varsity softball team on Thursday, as her two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning gave the Lady Jaguars a 3-2 win over Escondido in the first round of the CIF Division II playoffs.

Devers' blast gave Valley Center its first win in school history over the Lady Cougars at Escondido and propelled the Lady Jags into the second round to host San Pasqual, which defeated No. 1 seed Eastlake 5-1 on Thursday.

The second round game will be No. 9 San Pasqual at No. 5 Valley Center on Saturday at 3 p.m.
