Lady Jags Get Two Volleyball Wins

The Valley Center varsity girls volleyball team is on a roll this week, taking two big wins and improving to 5–2 on the season so far.
The Lady Jaguars started off the week last Tuesday hosting Westview, and held on after a close first game to take a 3–0 win, with game scores of 25–20, 25–18, 25–19.
Laura Glennie led the Lady Jags with nine kills, while Sidney Reilly added seven kills, Morgan Marcon had 32 assists and Alexis Comes had 18 digs in the win.
Valley Center rode the wave of momentum into Thursday’s home game against Point Loma, and the Lady Jaguars took advantage with a 3–1 win, with game scores of 25–20, 19–25, 25–21, 26–24.
The Lady Jags jumped ahead early in the first game, leading 8–2 after the first ten points, but Point Loma came back to pull within a point at 12–11. The Lady Jags slowly expanded the slim lead through the late stages and held on to take the first game by five.
Point Loma turned the tables on Valley Center in game two, scoring the first five points and forcing the Lady Jags to take an early timeout to regroup. Valley Center responded and pulled the score even at ten and kept the game close. But after a tie score at 17, Point Loma pulled away and took game two by seven.
The Lady Jaguars dug deep in the final two games, pulling away late in both to seal the win.
Glennie once again led the way with 15 kills, while Vanessa Heredia had nine kills, Marcon had 40 assists and Comes had 22 digs.
Next up, Valley Center faces San Pasqual at home on Thursday at 4:45 p.m.
